This blog is about the depravity of man. As I watch and see the world around me, it is painfully clear how clueless and lost the world bound are. Not that I’m on a high horse but I have dedicated my life to know God and walk with Him. With that comes the grace of awareness and knowledge. This isn’t coming from a prideful spot; it is coming from a place of sadness and urgency. A sadness to know how God has created us for so much more, yet we run aimlessly towards destruction and pay no mind to the God who loved and created us; urgency for the lost to find their way. The only way, as in Christ the King. Men strive after paper and lives lost after talk. Yet Christ promised us life for eternity if we only believe. Believe and turn from the life that the world condones as right, the life the world encourages as a pursuit of happiness. As if our happiness was the most important thing. As if a man has ever known what was truly good or right for them. Please walk with me for these next couple of words.
“The blind” is the foundational root of all ignorance equaling men denying God. Denying God is the root of ignorance and the path to eternal death. The foolish say in their heart “there is no God” (Psalm 14:1). We are raised with fallen men, we are taught by fallen men, we put our trust in fallen men, what makes the Christian different? The bible isn’t ultimately about fallen men, it’s about Christ’s redemptive work on the Cross. The Author of life wrote the bible through fallen men, and God has given us everything we need in His word. His word, which is knowledge beyond all human opinion or understanding. More than a guide on how to live, the bible is the foundational truth of salvation. By no other books and by no other means will salvation come. How could I say such a thing? I didn’t, the bible does. So do we go running blindly into the dark, or do you finally realize that we don’t have all the answers and there’s a better way to live? The way of Christ. For the word of the cross is foolish to those who are perishing, but to us who are being saved, it is the power of God (1 Corinthians 1:18). God has given each of us a chance to salvation, but we must accept it.
Leading the Blind:
Don’t believe what you believe just because you believe it. Think about what you believe for a second. Now think “Where do my beliefs come from?” Most likely you fall into 1 of 3 categories.
- You grew up in a home of disbelief or belief in another. So why would you know God at all if you’ve never really heard about Him?
- You grew up in a home of hate towards God. How can you compete with a root of evil by the ones you love?
- You grew up in a false Christian home. The home you know was one of hypocrisy and lies. Yet it was all wrapped in a bubble of Christianity. How could you believe in a god that looks like this?
One of these 3 can define the mind of most unbelievers. But you see how all these are the blind leading the blind right? The vary ones you’ve grown up with have grown up in one of the same 3 homes. It’s a defiled chain that needs to be broken. Don’t just go on believing because that’s all you know. Christians are continually learning and growing in their faith, knowledge of God and His creation. The non-believer is perfectly content with writing off the things of Christ because they count it as non-sense. So they continue learning from other people who don’t believe. People who are not doing real study and research on God, instead they are searching for anything else to believe in besides the God who made them. You see the problem here? The Christian ponders the big things, like “eternity.” We’ve battled unbelief in ourselves, we have fought off the desires of the flesh, we have come out the other side with the full assurance of Christ and our salvation. Why are we so special? We aren’t, but we have chosen to believe and therefore God has given us these gifts. Our belief is a gift from Him anyway. Now before I sound like Christians have some unique power to do this all on our own let me clarify these last couple statements. God chose whom He will save since before time. Believers only believe because of God’s choosing. Without the Holy Spirit, we wouldn’t have any strength to live out the life He has planned for us. We are completely reliant on God in every way. Sound weak? Absolutely, I have no power, or good on my own. But depending on the Creator of all things doesn’t sound like a bad idea right?
The Secrets of Eternity:
I know that sounds really mystical and ridiculous, but that’s what God has said to those who believe in Him. We are told the secrets of eternity. Ask any follower of Christ and they’ll contest that we are nothing special, the worst of the worst for the most part. Chosen because our weakness will be a display of God’s great work through us. In our weakness, His power is shown.
You Have Been Chosen:
You have been chosen if you only believe. It’s a mystery to many. If you chose God, He has already chosen you from before the earth was created. Which means, your very choice to believe is only by the grace of God. You cannot believe without the Father in heaven first choosing you. And if He has chosen you, you will never fall away from Him. Not that you won’t ever sin again or have backslides, but you return to Him and fight the fight of faith and good works. Not good works as in not earning anything from Him, but simply a response to His great grace shown to us. He chose you, and if you believe then you will do good works. It’s a beautiful God-ordained circle.
I like to ask this question and use it in lots of my blogs because I know many are asking; probably throughout the whole blog. But it’s an important question. I’m not even going to ask you to give up what you believe and follow Christ alone. I’m simply asking you to ask yourself more questions. Do you truly believe you know all the answers? I know you don’t, so why are you living your life like you do? Why are you trusting others who are walking around pretending they know all the answers? They don’t. There is One who does have all the answers, and He has created all things including you. Trust in Him and know that He has the best life planned for you. Not as in “God is our genie in the sky”, but the only life is in Him and that’s what He wants for all man. If you are interested in learning more please contact me and I’d love to answer any questions.
Please don’t let my word be the final word on this. Pick up the Bible, read Gospel-saturated books by good authors, read good commentaries on the Bible, pick up Wayne Grudem’s “Systematic Theology”, read the 1689 London Baptist confession of faith and learn from a man’s lifetime of study and meditation on the Word of God. Most of all, trust in Jesus Christ and know what He has given us is whole, perfect and is for our good and His glory. Love you all!
The grace of the Lord Jesus be with all. Amen.
